Dance Ontario Presents DanceWeekend 2011!Posted by Dela M - 507 days ago
If you are a dancer or someone who loves dance and is looking for some inspiration in the new year check out Danceweekend at the Harbourfront Centre this January!
As dancers we like to incorporate new genres and different techniques to update our moves and keep up with what’s new in the dance world. Events such as Danceweekend offer the perfect opportunity to do exactly that! From ballet, contemporary, belly to African and flamenco, the weekend is packed with different performances that offer you the chance to learn new genres and styles.
This amazing weekend is hosted by Dance Ontario, a membership-based association that was founded in 1976. The association is comprised of professional companies, independent dancers, choreographers and teachers, dance schools and more.
Dance Ontario now has a Youth Board of Directors (DOYB) which was launched in October of this year. They mention on their website that the Youth Board wants to turn “dreams into reality.” If you are passionate about helping young dancers realize their dreams then look into opportunities such as this where you can offer your ideas and expertise.
So, not only will this weekend offer you entertainment it will also provide you with a chance to network and get to know some of the members of Dance Ontario. The association offers job opportunities, training, and exposure. This is a great chance to explore your potential as a dancer!
Please check out the website for more information on Dance Ontario and how you can get involved!
Their website recognizes outstanding dancers, introduces and features new dance projects, includes a helpful directory for those looking for dancers, and even has a dance book review! The site is definitely for dance lovers as it is a great source of info and provides some inspiration for dancers who are looking to make it big!
