What does KCA do with its money?

Kalaikal Creative Arts has the mandate to showcase Tamil arts at the forefront of the world stage and this cannot be accomplished without financial investment in Tamil artists or artists who involve themselves in Tamil Arts. Surplus earned through its fundraising activities are reinvested back into artistic development projects.

An example of this is our continued commitment to artistic youth through sponsoring scholarships provided to young leaders in the arts sector at the first annual CTYA Top Talent Awards Gala. . KCA also intends to invest money in a trust fund for larger capital projects that will be necessary for future projects.

What is KCA doing about students missing classes to practice for Kalaikal dance competition?

As members of the community raised concerns that students were missing classes in order to go to dance practices KCA took action immediately to revise its policies. KCA strongly believes in the strength of an educated and diversely talent community.

KCA tries its best to ensure that events held by the organization for students are not held at peek exam periods. We are constantly working with TSAs and Teams to improve our processes as well as guidelines given to teams so that we ensure academics remains the priority. The obligation is on KCA as well as the students involved to ensure that they do not miss classes, and we at KCA do not condone missing classes.

How old do I have to be to get involved in KCA?

Kalaikal Creative Arts works hard to cater to different age groups. Those attending and enjoying Kalaikal university/college dance competition ranges from youth to seniors however those participating are university/college students, while our KY Panthers team catered towards high school students. The Kalaikal AllStar dance team caters not only to university students but professionals and those wishing to pursue dance as a career.
